The “scratch and win” experience of the ephemeral, where the symbols used playfully coexist without a space-time dimension, are in this context emptied of any intellectual content or message. A game of chance that takes hold on desires, the eventual winning combination paid in money for the happiness of the here and now, the here and now.
“The idea comes from a question that I have often asked myself. How have the lives of some people who have won a lot of money on lottery tickets changed? – Gabriele Mauro explains – Or as Sigmund Freud says: “The end of a toothache makes us happy, while not having a toothache does not have the same effect?” Why do people with Zara shoppers photograph themselves in front of Louis Vuitton windows? These questions of mine accompanied the ORO exhibition project. The “scratch card” is an experience of the ephemeral, where the symbols used playfully coexist without a space-time dimension, emptied of any content or intellectual message. A game of chance that takes hold on desires, the eventual winning combination paid in money for the happiness of the here and now, the here and now”.
