Museo Novecento
PianoNovecento was born in 2019 by an idea of Riccardo Sandiford as a musical project mainly dedicated to the piano production of the last century and as a conservation and protection plan for the huge repertoire produced in the Twentieth Century.
Over the years, however, the programming has been deliberately differentiated, offering the public also alternative repertoires and with various staffs.
The twentieth century, therefore, ideally understood as a temporal place of historical memory and stylistic innovation; the piano as the main tool for elaborating ideas.
In this third year of concert programming, which will be held as always in the cloister of the Museo Novecento in Florence, therefore, we will be able to attend traditional classical concerts, historical and contemporary jazz and multimedia performances with original music.
Renowned pianists and instrumentalists, creative artists and composers and even emerging young people, chosen from the most prestigious national musical institutions, will perform for eight evenings in the museum cloister, with free admission, giving life to an evocative and varied festival.
The recipe will not be “going back to the ancient and progress”, but the exchange between the present and the past, between the popular, the cultured and the extra-cultured, between the visual language and the sound one.
The museum will be a meeting place for everyone between “conservation” and “innovation”, between “lovers” of traditions and “curious” users of novelties: in short, modernity.
