On the occasion of the two exhibitions Giacometti – Fontana. The search for the absolute, from 2 March to 4 June at the Museum of Palazzo Vecchio and Lucio Fontana. L’origine du monde from 2 March to 13 September at the Museo Novecento, MUS.E offers a special calendar of cultural mediation activities.
Starting with the works in the exhibition Lucio Fontana. L’origine du monde – mainly centered on the concepts of space, environment and nature, with a section dedicated to the female figure and her generative energy – young people and adults will be able to explore, in the spaces of the Novecento Museum, the poetics and the work of one of the greatest artists of the 20th century, capable of unhinging the coordinates of the art of his time by expanding its languages, techniques and perspectives in a potentially infinite way. In the continuous dialogue, still very current, between earth and cosmos, between man and nature, between matter and form, between change and perfection, the exhibited works will therefore place themselves in the eyes of the public as tools of art and thought, thanks to which to grasp the connoting features of the spatial revolution started by the artist but also draw important ideas for our vision of the world and our being part of it.
Again as part of the exhibition at the Museo Novecento, families with children between the ages of 6 and 11 will be able to take part in the Space Journey activity, which starts with some works by maestro Fontana, who attempts the impossible by seeking, with his art, to cross a new dimension and explore the infinity of the cosmos, to continue discovering the works of Luca Pozzi, which present more recent reflections on the cosmos, on the values of science and imagination. The investigations of both towards an infinite space and their explorations through the language of art will be the premises on which to build their own reflection and work: in the second part, the children and their companions will in fact be involved in a laboratory activity, thanks to which to try your hand at creating your own spatial environment, illuminated by celestial and stellar visions.
The works of two great protagonists of 20th-century art, Alberto Giacometti and Lucio Fontana, will be the protagonists, inside the Museum of Palazzo Vecchio, of the thematic visit (dedicated to young people and adults) The search for the absolute, which will allow the public to deepen their artistic career thanks to a specific introduction on the two figures. It will therefore be possible to learn more about the premises and the genesis of the works on display, focusing on the research and solutions presented by the two artists thanks to the language of art.
Also at the Museum of Palazzo Vecchio families with children will be able to get in touch with the works on display thanks to The Energy of Matter, an activity that starts with the careful observation of the works on display, examples of the artistic reflection of the two great masters of the twentieth century, Lucio Fontana and Alberto Giacometti. Young visitors will have the opportunity to discover some of the two artists’ masterpieces up close, such as Man walking by Giacometti and Nature by Fontana. In the continuous dialogue between figuration and abstraction, between gesture and matter, the exhibition will allow children to dwell on the infinite possibilities of interpreting reality, which will be followed by a laboratory activity with clay, a primeval material loved by both artists, thanks to which it will be possible to create your own special works.
