Tuesday 7 July 2015 at 7:00p.m: Roots in the cold land. The music of folklore and prisons of the USSR, between immense worlds and small fairy tales
Immense worlds and small fairy tales: these are the shelters and the obligatory paths that bind the composers of Eastern Europe to their lands, so full of riches and fantastic stories, but also of hostility and aesthetic canons imposed by the regimes. The most authentic message is therefore sought in the ancient popular melodies, synthesis of a timeless humanity, assimilated and placed in convergence with the fractures and contrasts of politics and wars that imposed their drastic and firm rhythms.
Sergej Prokof’ev Five melodies for violin and piano
Georgy Ligeti Sonata for cello
Gyorgy Kurtag Hommage a R. Sch. for clarinet, viola and piano
Sofia Gubaidulina Trio for strings
Bela Bartok Kontraste for clarinet violin and piano
