An open day, to not forget. From 11.00 am to 10.00 pm on November 4, the anniversary of the 1966 flood, the Museo Novecento will remain open, with free admission for all.
And it is no coincidence that the artistic director Sergio Risaliti shared with the Councilor for Culture Tommaso Sacchi and the President of the City Council Luca Milani, the desire to keep the doors of the museum wide open to the city on the occasion of this anniversary. In fact, in 1966, when the Flood devastated Florence, the art historian Carlo Ludovica Ragghianti was promoting an exhibition dedicated to Italian art of the twenties and thirties that should have served as a driving force for the opening of a museum dedicated to the short century. , that Museo Novecento which saw the light of day 48 years later, in 2014.
At the time, Ragghianti promoted initiatives aimed at compensating for damage to the historical and artistic heritage of the city by sensitizing artists and collectors to the donation of some of their works and laying the foundations for what would be the future museum. Among the many artists who entered in response to Ragghianti’s appeal was Mirko Basaldella, whose works have constituted an important fund since then, thanks to a large donation from the heirs.
On the occasion of the extraordinary opening, it will be possible to visit, in addition to the permanent collection Alberto della Ragione, the exhibitions Bice Lazzari. La Poetica del segno (funtil February 10, 2020), anthological curated by Paola Ugolini and Sergio Risaliti (and produced in collaboration with Archivio Bice Lazzari), Solo. Mirko Basaldella (until February 13, 2020) curated by Luca Pietro Nicoletti and Lorenzo Fiorucci, L’Eccezione, video installation by Rä di Martino, one of the most renowned artist on the national and international scene, curated by Sergio Risaliti and produced by Museo Novecento – MUS.E (until February 13, 2020) and Duel. Lucciole per lanterne, by the Chinese artist Wang Yuyang, at his first solo show in Italy, curated by Lorenzo Bruni (until January 16, 2020), Da qui tutto bene, the installation of the young Rebecca Moccia, Un matrimonio futurista (until January 16, 2020), by the Tuscan Artist Lino Mannocci and Survival strategies, review of artist videos, conceived and produced by Beatrice Bulgari for In Between Art Film and curated by Paola Ugolini (until January 16, 2020).
And again, at 3:30 pm space for one of the meetings of the Noi del Novecento cycle dedicated to the elderly with Alzheimer’s and cognitive impairment, people who have experienced the drama of the Flood firsthand.
The Museo Novecento opens its doors to families and guests of the RSAs by proposing a path aimed at people with senile dementia and those who take care of them in the belief that the encounter with art, history and culture is the bearer of a deep well-being.
