On the occasion of the anniversary of the death of Anna Maria Luisa de’ Medici, the public will have the opportunity to visit the Florentine Civic Museums for free
As is now customary, on the occasion of the anniversary of the death of the last descendant of the Medici Grand Ducal branch, known with the title of Elettrice Palatina, the Florentine Civic Museums and MUS.E offer a suggestive memory of this great female figure, whose choices are were decisive for the history of its heritage and of the entire city of Florence.
On Friday, February 18 to celebrate the anniversary of the death of the Electro Palatine, the Florentine Civic Museums, including the Museo Novecento, and Palazzo Medici Riccardi will be accessible to the public for free.
The great merit of Princess Medici is realized in the legal act, known as the Family Pact, stipulated with Francesco Stefano di Lorena, thanks to which the last heir of the dynasty binds to the State – the Grand Duchy of Tuscany – all the assets that were part of the Medici collections: «…Galleries, Paintings, Statues, Libraries, Jewels and other precious things […] on the express condition that it is for the ornament of the State, for the benefit of the public and to attract the curiosity of foreigners, and nothing will be transported and taken out of the Capital and State of the Grand Duchy».
