The first monographic exhibition dedicated to the American artist by Italian museum institutions presents a series of works exhibited for the first time in Florence in some of the city’s iconic venues: Museo Stefano Bardini, Palazzo Medici Riccardi and Museo Marino Marini.
Rachel Feinstein (Fort Defiance, Arizona, 1971) is among the most interesting contemporary artists on the international scene. Her works, which range from sculpture to painting, have a dreamlike dimension that draws inspiration as much from classical art and Renaissance painting as from modern fairy tales and cartoons.
Rachel Feinstein’s works enter into dialogue with the collections of Museo Stefano Bardini, Palazzo Medici Riccardi and Museo Marino Marini, thus inaugurating a close dialogue between the masterpieces housed within these venues and the works created by the American artist. Thus, a series of pictorial and sculptural works are presented, some of them of new production, which look to the Gothic and Renaissance, Florentine and Nordic traditions and draw inspiration from the collections of the three museums, playing on the generous and open comparison with masterpieces of past masters from Donatello to Michelozzo to the sculptures of Marino Marini.
