Endo, or èndo, from the Greek ἔνδον, is the first element of words used in science and especially medicine with the meaning of “within” or “located within.”
The solo exhibition of Namsal Siedlecki (1986, Greenfield, USA) is located inside what can be considered the belly of the Museo Novecento, the central environment, once devoted to reflection, reading and meditation, around which the entire building develops. In this place, metaphorically interpreted as a stomach within which matter is unraveled and transformed, creating energy, the artist exhibits several sculptures placed in close dialogue with each other, conceived as a single large installation.
Namsal Siedlecki’s artistic practice investigates the processual and transformative nature of materials. His works, which often combine craftsmanship with the most modern technologies, are almost always conceived as evolving objects, never static, which in their perpetual redefinition pay homage to the infinite possibilities of form and to an idea of art as living, pulsating matter. Endo is a large sculptural device that stems from these suggestions and is fueled by references as much to alchemy, chemistry, and anatomy as to the plastics of the twentieth-century masters, to the fascination with celibate machines and robotics.
The Renaissance cloister of the Novecento Museum houses four elements, or sculptural groups, made of different materials and techniques, which coexist and collaborate with each other; four ‘stomachs’ that, when put into operation, act as a single body, ideally distilling segments of imagination.
